I shod my first horse when I was 13 years old, an old
pony that I rode on many miles of country roads. A
friend showed me how to put shoes on the horse, never
suspecting that I would someday shoe horses for a living.
When Dawn and I were married in
1978 we had several horses and I began learning
more so I could shoe them and have been shoeing
horses ever since.
A whole new adventure began in
1992, shoeing the Fox Trotting performance
horse. I watched and listened, attended
several shows and received advice from the best
trainers and farriers in the breed. I
wanted to shoe each horse to perform the best of
his ability, without hurting or laming him. |
