NOVA

Date: 01/13/05

Nova was born May 2004. She is Sage's 2nd foal. Nova is an amber champagne. Her hair glints metalic when touched by the sun. Her bloodlines are Golden Govenor and Zane Gray.

Nova is horse to die-for! She is drop-dead gorgeous with the great champange color. She learns fast and is very light-she gives to the slightest pressure.

She went to her first beginning clinic with Parelli instructor, Jennifer Vaught, when she was six months old. She stayed pretty calm when she first arrived at Pine Dell and also during the clinic. She stayed with me for the entire clinic. She didn't get hysterical and try to run away. That's unusual for my horses! Both Kodak Moment and Salty spent a lot of time showing everyone how great they could rear. Nova was a cool customer!

But Nova is Sage's filly. Nova is the filly of the lead mare. Everyone bows down before Nova...mainly because she is a baby and if they don't, Sage will chew them into little horse nuggets!

Nova is a lead mare in-training!

I've come out to play in the pasture and Nova comes right up to me. She demands attention. If Salty or Kodak come around to find attention, she turns her rear end to them and kicks them. They pretend that she's not there, but they don't get any closer to me either. I think that they are just being good sports about it and letting her have her spoiled way!

In January '05, walked by baby Nova and her mother. I noticed she had laid down and had a big icy wet spot on her back leg. I rubbed the icy wet spot with my arm and WHACK! Nova's rear leg raised up and kicked me! She got me on the inside of leg around me knee area. It stung.

Nova had to move her feet around the corral some so she would realize that she just whacked a two-legged lead mare....a very upset lead mare.

Well, life with Nova is going to be interesting. I might have barely enough savvy to be the winner lead mare as she continues to grow!
