I&#8217;ve attended the Celebration for the last two years to watch my horses. June 2009 is the first time I&#8217;ve showed at Ava since 2000.\u00a0 A lot has changed and gotten really better since way back then. That year was the first year for the Reining Competition and I rode Velvet.&lt;p&gt;<\/p>\n<p>Incidentially, Nichole Copple and Velvet won Reserve High Point Youth Versatility with tons of blue ribbons. &lt;P&gt;<\/p>\n<p>Nova and I were entered in the Open Events with all the really cool people..my heros.\u00a0 Nova is fabulous. We actually placed in all the four events that we entered.\u00a0 When we were on, we were fabulous.\u00a0 When we didn&#8217;t communicate, we still looked great!\u00a0 &lt;p&gt;<\/p>\n<p>We had trouble with our leads. That&#8217;s it!\u00a0 We did great in everything else.\u00a0 Oh, I forgot.\u00a0 Nova cantered when the judge called for flat foot walk or fox trot.\u00a0 I need to translate English to her a little bit better.\u00a0 Canter&#8230;Flat Foot Walk&#8230;they sound so much alike!<\/p>\n<p>JR and Jennifer Vaught did great!\u00a0 They placed 3rd in the Open Versatility.\u00a0 Diva and Tony did great too.\u00a0 It was a horse heaven for me to see Diva, Velvet and JR doing so well&#8230;and it was heaven to ride Nova!&lt;p&gt;<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ly.lygo.com\/af\/d\/blog\/camouflage\/stardivider.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" vspace=\"10\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Monday, 22 June 2009<\/p>\n<p>Now Playing: Nova in Spring National Fox Trotter Horse Show<br \/>\n2009 Spring Missouri Fox Trotter Show has come and gone. The horses appeared close by. \u00a0I was scared because I thought the young horse was the foal of the larger horse and maybe she would attack me if I tried to touch the young horse.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">I watched them approach my tackle box.\u00a0 They nudged it and then the big one gave it a big push and rolled it over. It clattered.\u00a0 Both horses flew around for a while.\u00a0I was a little more afraid. They calmed down and came back to the tackle box. Both the horses\u00a0 took turns kicking my tackle box.\u00a0 My stuff went flying everywhere!\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t know what to do.\u00a0 Finally, they got tired of kicking\u00a0my tackle box and went off to eat grass.\u00a0 I hustled over to my tackle box and spent quite a while picking all the stuff up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">I resumed fishing with my tackle box close besides me.\u00a0 Shortly, I felt something push me on my back!\u00a0 I turned around and there were both horses standing right behind me.\u00a0 I petted the bigger horse (Nova).\u00a0 I tried to fish again, but the bigger horse kept coming close to me.\u00a0I discovered that I could pet both of them. \u00a0I finally had to leave the pasture and fish where they couldn&#8217;t go.\u00a0 They wouldn&#8217;t leave me alone. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.angelfire.com\/mo2\/pinedell\/Nova_Spotlight\/Nova_water_play_5-09.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"281\" align=\"left\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">What awesome horses they are!&#8221;<\/span><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ly.lygo.com\/af\/d\/blog\/camouflage\/stardivider.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" vspace=\"10\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sunday, 24 May 2009<\/p>\n<p>Nova Hangs Up her Hat<br \/>\nWe had a fox trotter 4 hour Reining and Western Horsemanship Clinic today with Jennifer and Tony Vaught.<\/p>\n<p>After doing lead changes, attempted flying changes, roll backs, leg yields across the arena, stops, backing as well as practicing her flat foot and fox trot, she said enough&#8230;and hung up her HAT<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.angelfire.com\/mo2\/pinedell\/Nova_Spotlight\/Novahangsupherhat_5-23-09.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"309\" height=\"527\" align=\"left\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Nova and I participated in the Kansas City Regional Fox Trotter Horse Club&#8217;s spring show on a glorious Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">We entered five events and got ribbons in three.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Nova and I got first in the trail class only because we made the least mistakes. Everyone that participated blew the gate. That&#8217;s the gate that rider has to open, horse has to go thru and rider has to close the gate.\u00a0 We did all that, but sadly had to let go of the gate several times when Nova thought the gate wasn&#8217;t safe enough for me to touch it and scooted away.\u00a0I was glad that she was thinking about my safety.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">We did do the mail box perfectly.\u00a0 We clomped over the poles&#8230;Nova wanted to touch the logs with her hooves to seek out just what they felt like.\u00a0 We backed thru the three cones fairly well, just touching one&#8230;not knocking it down.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Nova went over the bridge in a superior manner and then stopped and backed like the pro she is.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Nova has a wonderful slow and rolling canter. We placed 2nd in Fox Trot Open -Will Canter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">We got third in Western Pleasure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">We were grateful to get the ribbons, grateful to the young handsome judge- Lane Patterson, grateful to all the people that organized the show and the young good looking announcer- Andy Odor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">We were grateful that the day ended with a splendid outing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Oh wait, the drive home was especially splendid as I was stopped by the police.\u00a0 I turned into a horse shopping place, Feldman&#8217;s,\u00a0and noticed a police car following me with flashing lights.\u00a0 My rear trailer tack door is hard to get shut and often comes swinging open as I travel down the road.\u00a0 That&#8217;s what I thought had happened.\u00a0 I stopped the truck and leaped out on my way to the door. I noticed that there were two police cars parked behind\u00a0the trailer.\u00a0 What the heck!\u00a0 The policeman &#8211; about 14 years old &#8211; held up a hand and stopped me.\u00a0 I tried again to go forward again.\u00a0 He stopped me again.\u00a0 I tried to ask him what was wrong, but he was talking on his remote speaker device.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">So, I decided that maybe it wasn&#8217;t the trailer door that was open. Then I tried to open the rear door of my truck and that made him nervous again.\u00a0 He kept\u00a0telling me\u00a0to get me back into my truck.\u00a0 How silly was that.\u00a0 I had to find my purse with the license.\u00a0 He finally got the point across that I might be dangerous and had to get into my truck.\u00a0 I flinched back and leaned on my seat.\u00a0 That was when he asked me if I had any weapons.\u00a0I got into the truck.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Finally he told me that my license plate appeared to be expired.\u00a0 NO WAY!\u00a0 We marched together to the front of the truck and stared at the 2008 license plate.\u00a0 &#8220;Huh&#8221;, thought I.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">I got back into the truck.\u00a0 I ask permission to get out of the truck and get my purse on the passenger\u00a0side floor.\u00a0 I gave him my driver&#8217;s license as we were marching back to the driver&#8217;s side.\u00a0 Then I had to find my insurance card.\u00a0 I had all my cards-duplicates for 2006, 2007 and 2008.\u00a0 We looked at all of them. Finally as he was\u00a0walking away, I looked in the new place that I now keep the insurance card and sang out that I had the card.\u00a0 I got out again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Again he told me to get back in the truck and wait.\u00a0 This time I obeyed, but I kept the door open. After all, I was going\u00a0shopping at Feldman&#8217;s when this was over.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">The\u00a0two police cars\u00a0pulled away and I went into Feldmans.\u00a0My &#8220;police event&#8221; had attracted a lot of attention from fellow Feldman shoppers. They couldn&#8217;t believe that I had two police cars all that time for an expired plate.\u00a0 I told them that I had looked dangerous.\u00a0 We all whooped.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">I probably did look dangerous with fly away hair, reddish sunburned face and dirt stained rumpled show clothes.\u00a0I probably was somewhat dehydrated as I just really didn&#8217;t want to get back into the truck!\u00a0I believe that the policeman was a young trainee\u00a0and that the 2nd police support was the mentor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Today\u00a0as I was cleaning out the truck, I found the 2009\u00a0license plate buried under about a year of accumulated stuff.\u00a0There it WAS!
