Great friends, a great teacher and great horses.\u00a0 The greats pile up!<\/p>\n<p>We rode slow\u00a0with occasional times of\u00a0speed and many rest periods.\u00a0 We didn&#8217;t want sweat.<\/p>\n<p>OK, most of\u00a0the four hours\u00a0wasn&#8217;t outdoors.\u00a0 Most of it was in an indoor arena. Someone did forget to turn on the furnace.\u00a0 I left home at 11:30 and came back at 4:00.\u00a0 The lesson was from 1:00-3:00, but it always runs longer. We did toast up in the indoor lounge after the group lesson, but most of the time I was without heat.<\/p>\n<p>I discovered, once again, that I can ride in the winter.\u00a0 I remember discovering this fact every year.\u00a0 It gets to be winter and I always assume, I can only survive in my lounge chair.<\/p>\n<p>But then magically, I&#8217;m forced to ride and discover&#8230;I can survive!<\/p>\n<p>On the flip side, the other half of the partnership was convinced that she would die.\u00a0 In the last part of the lesson, we had to canter. We cantered quite a bit and had an\u00a0ongoing argument.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">NOVA\u00a0 &#8220;I can&#8217;t breathe!\u00a0 I must stop and I must stop NOW! Are you kidding me?\u00a0 You haven&#8217;t exercised me for 3 weeks and now you want to run me into the ground?\u00a0 NO!\u00a0 I am going to balk! Why don&#8217;t you ride Velvet, not me?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Susan &#8220;Only for a little while longer.\u00a0 You can do it. Don&#8217;t die on me.\u00a0 Keep cantering. Stop arguing with me.\u00a0 If you would just canter nicely, we could stop!\u00a0 Velvet lived thru this, it&#8217;s your turn now.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Nova was so tired at the end of the lesson, that she couldn&#8217;t walk to the exit gate.\u00a0 Her saddle was loose.\u00a0 Her bridle was off. She balked twice while I was leading her to the gate.<\/p>\n<p>Nova is a dominant-argumentative- only-child mare.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll be riding a lot more winter nights now.\u00a0 No more recliner chair!\u00a0 Well, let&#8217;s say, &#8220;less recliner chair nights&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thank you Jennifer Vaught for the great lesson and the fun time riding with great friends.
