{"id":2868,"date":"2014-01-09T22:38:36","date_gmt":"2014-01-10T04:38:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/?p=2868"},"modified":"2014-02-26T16:17:41","modified_gmt":"2014-02-26T22:17:41","slug":"most-amazing-dinner-date","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/most-amazing-dinner-date\/","title":{"rendered":"Most Amazing Dinner Date"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ll take you to dinner tonight at Sam&#8217;s,&#8221; I said. \u00a0&#8220;OK, Let&#8217;s go. \u00a0Let me get my heavier coat on,&#8221; spouse responded. \u00a0That&#8217;s how we start out a romantic date night. \u00a0Sam&#8217;s has the best BBQ brisket I&#8217;ve ever eaten. \u00a0I have become a fan of brisket because of this restaurant. \u00a0It&#8217;s the type of restaurant I grew up in\u2026meat and potatoes with vegetable options. \u00a0Good cooking.<\/p>\n<p>We entered Sam&#8217;s and found &#8220;our booth&#8221; was free. \u00a0We sat down and fought over the placement of the table. \u00a0The plush booths are just a little too far from the table. \u00a0I have short arms. \u00a0My arms could be called three quarter length arms. \u00a0Tables have to be close enough so I can rest most of my lower arm on the table to eat and to post on Facebook comfortably. \u00a0Evidentially, spouse&#8217;s arms and a little short for this booth too. \u00a0Spouse whined that he never gets a say in how close the table is for his body. But I have the shorter arms, I said. \u00a0I juggled the table closer toward him about half an inch. \u00a0I asked if he was OK with the table placement. \u00a0He agreed. \u00a0It just took a concession from me and he gave in. \u00a0Date night was up and running again.<\/p>\n<p>Our meal arrived and we were busy with the shoveling the food from the plate to our mouth. \u00a0Yum! \u00a0I marvled over how much tender \u00a0brisket I had\u2026enough for another good meal. \u00a0We both marvled and continued to eat.<\/p>\n<p>BANG\u2026CLATTER\u2026CRASH and a verbal really really loud &#8220;DAMMITT!&#8221; came from my booth. \u00a0I stared at spouse and there was no plate on his side of the table. \u00a0Amazing, his plate had taken a flying leap, bounced into his lap and crashed on the floor with half of his hamburger steak and sweet potato fries. \u00a0Thank goodness there was only one other table of people in the restaurant and the shocked faces of those diners \u2026along with my own, froze in the restaurant air.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What Happened?&#8221; I said. \u00a0He said, &#8220;The table was too far away.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sweet potato fries and half the hamburger on the floor. \u00a0He managed to pick up the plate and spear the hamburger. \u00a0Dogs enjoyed our date night. \u00a0Tip was increased<\/p>\n<p>Next time we go to Sam&#8217;s, we are not sitting in a booth. \u00a0Our seat of preference will \u00a0be a table with chairs. \u00a0Sam&#8217;s has cushioned chairs and they scoot close enough to the table so that your dinner plate won&#8217;t go flying through the air.<\/p>\n<p>Have you ever had a dinner plate that went flying through the air? \u00a0Lordy!!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ll take you to dinner tonight at Sam&#8217;s,&#8221; I said. \u00a0&#8220;OK, Let&#8217;s go. \u00a0Let me get my heavier coat on,&#8221; spouse responded. \u00a0That&#8217;s how we start out a romantic date night. \u00a0Sam&#8217;s has the best BBQ brisket I&#8217;ve ever eaten. \u00a0I have become a fan of brisket because of this restaurant. \u00a0It&#8217;s the type of restaurant I grew up in\u2026meat and potatoes with vegetable options. \u00a0Good cooking.
