Good Gad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-3014\" href=\"http:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/2014\/07\/lucky-star-maturing-good-gad\/summer2014\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3014\" title=\"summer2014\" src=\"http:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/summer2014-350x262.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/summer2014-350x262.jpg 350w, https:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/summer2014-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Never fear, Lucky Star still argues. \u00a0He did take a rein in his mouth just last week. \u00a0The young argumentative boy has turned into a more mature less argumentative boy. \u00a0Lucky and I spend a lot of time going slow, steering with the hindquarter and riding without me touching the reins. \u00a0After we get all this worked out, we might do a few drop to trot canter lead changes in a figure eight type pattern \u00a0He still breaks into a non rhythmic lateral bumpy gait. \u00a0We can&#8217;t keep the three beat canter going. \u00a0We also don&#8217;t pick up the canter exactly when I ask for it&#8230;he might pick it up within 10 to 100 feet. \u00a0 Then we practice the flat foot walk and fox trot. \u00a0That&#8217;s what we do when I ride him.<\/p>\n<p>Many have asked what Lucky thinks of having Cisco in his life. \u00a0Will he want to share me and do less work. \u00a0I tell you now that I&#8217;ll be taking him and Cisco both to lessons and clinics. \u00a0He is fine with being tied up and watching Cisco being the one&#8230;in between his eating grass. \u00a0Yep, I think he&#8217;s happy.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Lucky got to be in the group lesson. \u00a0It was supposed to be a two hour lesson, but it unfolded into a three hour lesson. \u00a0Cisco got to spend about an hour for our liberty exercise and poor Lucky had to do drop to walk serpentine pattern at a canter. \u00a0Lucky did some awesome turns at a canter, better than ever before. \u00a0I was determined to follow the pattern rules with the walk and canter gaits. \u00a0Lucky did good for a while, but hey&#8230;it&#8217;s hot out there. \u00a0Lucky decided to be done with an impulsion (forward motion), a little before I was done with impulsion. \u00a0We argued, we stopped, we moved at an argumentative protest walk while I was asking for a canter. \u00a0I became grumpy, because hey, it&#8217;s hot out there. \u00a0Thankfully, I won the battle and then Jenny told me to ride on the rail. \u00a0We did really well fox trotting on the rail and the lesson was over for Lucky Star.<\/p>\n<p>We will be occasionally adding the serpentine pattern in our daily riding practice!<\/p>\n<p>We are attending another group lesson tomorrow morning!
