Lucky Star did fantabulous at his first real horse show. \u00a0Some of my nightmare visions came true and other of my nightmare visions didn’t occur. \u00a0Overall, Lucky did great.<\/p>\n

Lucky Turns it On<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

1. \u00a0When we got there, Lucky was tied up while I created the trail class obstacles. \u00a0He did fine. \u00a0I didn’t have any nightmares about this.<\/p>\n

2. \u00a0Saddled him up and he did have some energy. \u00a0Thanfully, friend Hope was there with Chip. \u00a0So we rode in circles around Hope and Chip until Lucky was calm. \u00a0No nightmares about this part either.<\/p>\n

3. \u00a0We then rode in the two arenas, practicing. \u00a0He was a little keyed up, but he ended up being very calm about everything. \u00a0no nightmare here<\/p>\n

4. \u00a0We were the first contestant in the trail class. \u00a0Lucky went into the arena willingly and gave me all the impulsion I could have asked for. \u00a0My nightmare was that he would balk at the gate and not go in. \u00a0He did surprise me in the back thru the triangle barrels. \u00a0He got angry with me and put some speed in his backup. \u00a0In fact, he backed up out of the pattern. \u00a0This was the first time I’ve ever not been able to get him to stop or slow down! \u00a0amazing<\/p>\n

5. \u00a0We won 2nd…amazing<\/p>\n

6. \u00a0Opening Ceremony of the horse show. \u00a0I was asked to carry the club flag. \u00a0Well, Lucky has never carried a flag before, but he is calm and I have certainly prepared him for things zipping around over his head. \u00a0And he did it! \u00a0He carried the flag in following the horse and rider with the American flag. \u00a0We kept up with that horse, stood quietly for the National Anthem and followed the American flag horse out of the arena at the same speed. \u00a0Now that is a memory to cherish forever!<\/p>\n

7. \u00a0Western Pleasure – went right in and did fine. \u00a0nightmare was that he would stop and balk<\/p>\n

8. \u00a0Novice- \u00a0Went right in, balked at the gate and again when we stopped and reversed. \u00a0I got him going again before creating a problem for the other horses. \u00a0nightmare was balking, creating a problem for the other horses, being asked to leave the arena, except he still wouldn’t move. \u00a0So the nightmare was way worse than what really happened!<\/p>\n

He gave his all on this class. \u00a0We scratched the next class and I took him home. \u00a0He was grateful to get home and drink water. \u00a0The facility had a water problem and there was no water to fill a bucket.<\/p>\n

I decided that Lucky should go into full time training before the World Show at Ava. \u00a0Lucky is currently at For the Horse Ranch and being trained by Jennifer Vaught. \u00a0My nightmare of balking at the World Show is abating.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
