{"id":3383,"date":"2015-10-23T19:21:59","date_gmt":"2015-10-24T00:21:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/?p=3383"},"modified":"2015-10-23T19:21:59","modified_gmt":"2015-10-24T00:21:59","slug":"lucky-star-recovery-10-23-15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/lucky-star-recovery-10-23-15\/","title":{"rendered":"Lucky Star Recovery  10-23-15"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"_mcePaste\">It&#8217;s been nearly two weeks since I had to worry about Lucky Star and his ripped foot. \u00a0He went over a fence, but caught his back foot and tried to rip it apart. \u00a0There were weeks of constant worry from colic to him not getting up for two days. \u00a0I&#8217;ve now enjoyed two weeks of heaven not worrying about Lucky not making it.<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">I came home this afternoon to see him laying down in the far pasture. \u00a0hmmmm. \u00a0I got grain and rattled the stall bars to let all the horses know that grain was coming. \u00a0All horses came except Lucky. \u00a0I saw him raise up and then flop back down again. \u00a0It appeared that he was close to the fence.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">OMG! \u00a0He&#8217;s got his feet caught in the fence. \u00a0A horse owner can always tell when something is not right. \u00a0I rushed into the garage to find the wire cutters.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">Note to Self&#8230;store the wire cutters somewhere in plain sight. \u00a0Put them in a place where you know they are. \u00a0What do wire cutters look like, anyway. \u00a0I finally located three tools that appeared to be wire cutters.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">Lucky was across the far pasture.<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">Oh wait. \u00a0I need a phone in my pocket. \u00a0I know I will need to call someone to help me.<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">Get the phone out of the car.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">I&#8217;ll take the riding mower over. \u00a0It will be faster.<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">Finally, I get into the pasture and got over to Lucky Star. \u00a0He was no where near the fence. \u00a0He raised his head and looked at me. \u00a0I looked at him, his legs. \u00a0No blood&#8230;Nothing wrong. \u00a0My pulse calmed down from 1140 to 140 beats per minute.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">I decided to mow some weedy spots while I was there and probably Lucky Star would get up. \u00a0Nope<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">I got closer to him with the mower. \u00a0He hopped right up. \u00a0He turned around.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">Lucky Star cantered across the dam to the barn where the other horses had eaten all the grain by now.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">HE CANTERED! \u00a0It wasn&#8217;t a pretty canter, but it was a canter!<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">Holy Moly!<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been nearly two weeks since I had to worry about Lucky Star and his ripped foot. \u00a0He went over a fence, but caught his back foot and tried to rip it apart. \u00a0There were weeks of constant worry from colic to him not getting up for two days. \u00a0I&#8217;ve now enjoyed two weeks of heaven not worrying about Lucky not making it.
