{"id":5395,"date":"2019-02-02T21:38:02","date_gmt":"2019-02-03T03:38:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/?p=5395"},"modified":"2019-02-04T00:16:01","modified_gmt":"2019-02-04T06:16:01","slug":"mud-is-not-fancy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/mud-is-not-fancy\/","title":{"rendered":"Mud is Not Fancy!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>No pictures were taken to protect the innocent<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have had a lot of moisture here in the Kansas City Chiefs Kingdom.&nbsp; We had rain and snow.&nbsp; If the ground is not frozen, it is mushy or muddy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 2 of Fancy\u2019s return to her fantastic boarding stable.&nbsp; She has switched turnout pastures and is now living with her famous half brother, Louie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I turned into the driveway seeking first sight of Fancy.\u00a0 Standing in a muddy area, I saw the golden gelding with frosty white mane and tail.\u00a0 There was not a speck of mud on his glorious golden body.\u00a0 Where was Fancy?\u00a0 My eyes found her and I gasped.\u00a0 Fancy was the same color as the mud she was laying in.\u00a0 She was laying in mud!\u00a0 Scream!\u00a0 I saw a few inches of her creamy hair.\u00a0 I saw massive amount of body covered mud.\u00a0 My thought about riding her today plunged into hopeless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mission changed into liberty or online games.&nbsp; The day before, we had an excellent experience in our liberty games.&nbsp; Fancy is very special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We got to play at liberty and we ended up with her jumping over barrels at a canter.&nbsp; She runs to me from afar.&nbsp; She walks with me, her head next to my body.&nbsp; She does a large figure eight at a canter. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we paused to rest after she did something fabulous, I brushed and combed the mud from where the saddle would sit.\u00a0 The wet mud was on her chest where the girth goes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We worked on bridling. \u00a0 She is resistant to having a bit placed into her mouth.\u00a0 I use treats and patience to get the bit into her mouth.\u00a0 We did it twice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heck. Fancy is ready to ride!\u00a0I beat the mud!  I saddled her up.\u00a0 She stands in place now while I get the pad and then the saddle from her tack room.\u00a0 She no longer has to be tied if the saddle is near.\u00a0 We have worked on ground tying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The riding experience is coming along.\u00a0 We have not yet bonded in our riding relationship.\u00a0 She is a horse that needs daily riding to progress.\u00a0 The recent snow, rain and polar vortex cold hinder our riding relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m having a great time with Fancy!&nbsp; She makes me very happy.<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No pictures were taken to protect the innocent We have had a lot of moisture here in the Kansas City Chiefs Kingdom.&nbsp; We had rain and snow.&nbsp; If the ground is not frozen, it is mushy or muddy.
