When I woke up, I never knew this was the day my life was to change. My regular life order delayed my Fancy ride to around 3:30pm. Terry, the spouse is used to eating around 4:00-4:30. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tony Vaught texted me in early afternoon that he would appear around 5:30 to trim Fancy’s feet. Oh good. I left Fancy and went home to get the spouse food. I was back with Fancy waiting for Tony. We had some nice undemanding time while she snarfed grass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tony arrived and trimmed Fancy. We chatted. Fancy and I were in a clinic with Tony and Jenny last weekend. Tony knows everything about my troubles with her. Fancy and I did better during the clinic, but we still have my inability to fully click with my horse in the spirit of natural horsemanship…love, language and leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tony decides to help me one-on-one. We go into the arena and my assignment is to have Fancy do a circle at a flat foot walk. Fancy does a circle at a walk and a trot. I do inappropriate things to keep her going. Fancy is winning. Tony gives me an life-long assignment, Fancy needs to do at least one lap at a flat foot walk. Sigh<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Tony sermon started: “Fancy is a wonderful horse. You must concentrate when you go into arena. You are in charge of every step she takes. Susan, you are Super. She will do wonderful.” I don’t remember every sentence Tony said. But I felt like I was the congregation and he was preaching to me. His words went into my soul. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A few days later, I took a lesson with Erin Patterson. When the lesson was concluded, Erin pronounced me “changed”<\/strong>. I enjoyed<\/strong> riding Fancy and her challenge. Being in a lesson with Erin helps a lot too.
