Hope has not ridden Lucky or any horse for that length of time. We planned a low mileage ride, seeking shade.

The trail tested and the trail untested horses were saddled up and took off. Fancy had an immediate spook in place which feels more like a stumble. “Oh”, I said. Lucky occasionally would stop which allowed Fancy to pass him

Once when we were passing Lucky the Dominate, he swung his head around with his teeth ready to convince Fancy that he was the big boss. However, the teeth were heading for my hand instead. My hand reached out and slapped the mouth. Lucky did not fall in love with the fair Fancy, nor did he manage to convince her he was the boss on this hallowed day.

Fancy has zero trust of mud patches. We managed to skirt the edge of the mud puddles. We need a mud puddle desensitizing ride to learn that mud is yuck, but won’t kill!

Fancy followed and led the trail ride. You can’t get much better than that, oh wait, there is a better. Hope and Lucky were resting. We were not far from the trailer parking lot. I asked Hope if Fancy and I could go on alone. This would be the final test. Would Fancy leave her herd? Fancy and I rode off never giving the Lucky-Star-herd a thought. We rode out of sight with never a quiver. We rode on the road, on the side and let a car pass.
