I couldn’t get her out of the pace,

Note: The evil pace always lurks. Sometimes, it is a lateral gait with the pace hiding in the closet.

Our practice session included leg yielding. We went into and back to rail at FFW and Fox Trot. Maintaining a leg yield at speed, in gait is advanced.

We did good with the flat foot walk. Erin has got her into a fast and smooth flat foot walk which makes my soul jump up and down with happiness. Maintaining this speed around corners is our challenge.

Next we do some great fast smooth fox trot. She loves the fox trot and also wants to speed up into a canter. We stop and back when this happens.

Now the cream….cantering. We cantered around on the rail. I tried for a refined canter, in balance, slower and got it. We did circles with no flying changes and she was read to change, but didn’t try…a huge advancement. We cantered both ways along the rail and circles.

We rest between these air sucking runs.

I decide it’s time for flying changes. She did both directions and we rested a long time. This is when she changed into a beast! She wanted to run like the recent 40 mph wind. Lordy, we ran around that arena! We tried again for a flying change. When you are running like the wind, flying changes are too difficult, so we counter canter/galloped around the arena and I experienced a major heat face flush. OMG! I have a fire. I realize this is what 80 degrees in the afternoon feels like. I’m not used to heat. At least I was wearing a TShirt.

We ceased forward movement, but managed to get out of arena and into the indoor where I leaped off, unsaddled, haltered and we joined the big reward phase of the ride. Me sitting in a chair with her eating clover.

Fancy has try! She ties to do what I’m asking and I try to let her know I appreciate it.
