{"id":7605,"date":"2024-01-07T15:34:25","date_gmt":"2024-01-07T21:34:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/?p=7605"},"modified":"2024-01-07T15:34:25","modified_gmt":"2024-01-07T21:34:25","slug":"airs-above-the-ground","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/airs-above-the-ground\/","title":{"rendered":"Airs Above the Ground"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_7601\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\">\n<p><strong>42 Degree Group Lesson Day<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I wore thick cotton jodhpurs\/breeches, long sleeved medium weight shirt, sweatshirt and my new coat.\u00a0 Fancy gave me quite a workout early on and my glasses steamed up.\u00a0 I put them in my new coat pocket.\u00a0 How cool to have a big enough pocket!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">We were doing a new pattern today to get flying lead changes (my 20 year passion goal) and it was working!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 The<\/span>\u00a0pattern was much like another pattern we had used a few times earlier this year except my lead change (leg cue) request came later. \u00a0Fancy knew a flying change was going to be requested and she wanted to do the flying lead change when the old pattern dictated.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Plus Fancy loves to do flying changes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There are two of us in the group lesson today. \u00a0We took turns on the pattern. \u00a0Fancy was doing it, under protest at having to wait. \u00a0I had started sweating at the effort. \u00a0I took off my steamed glasses and put them in my coat pocket. \u00a0I was excited they fit. \u00a0\u201cGood coat, \u201d I whispered silently.<\/p>\n<p>Our turn! \u00a0Fancy started her protest where she wanted to change leads. \u00a0She popped. \u00a0Her body popped. \u00a0Her body kept popping up. \u00a0Her back legs and her front legs popped up. \u00a0She popped up again and again. \u00a0My hands grew alarmed and pulled back on the reins. \u00a0My body kept popping up out of the saddle. \u00a0In the 6 hour long (six seconds) I wondered 1\u2026Is she bucking and 2\u2026.is she going to buck? \u00a0My body knew it was going to fly out of the saddle.<\/p>\n<p>after the six hour (six second) ordeal had passed, she slowed down and stopped.<\/p>\n<p>My great instructor Did Not come storming out of the arena to,take over Fancy. \u00a0Oh no! \u00a0Instead I was told to do it again!
