{"id":835,"date":"2008-08-16T23:06:03","date_gmt":"2008-08-17T04:06:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/?p=835"},"modified":"2010-10-07T23:06:29","modified_gmt":"2010-10-08T04:06:29","slug":"sue-how-do-you-do-at-focus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/sue-how-do-you-do-at-focus\/","title":{"rendered":"Sue &#8211; How Do You DO at Focus?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">I don&#8217;t know whether or not you&#8217;ve noticed this, but ususally the title pertains to either Sue or I.\u00a0 Today, it really is my title.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">We were in a nice sized 3 hour clinic this morning at Pine Dell.\u00a0 There were 9 wonderful horses in the clinic.\u00a0 Sue is getting better with her claustrophobia right along with my fear termination.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">But, we still have a problem going between horses while we are trying to stay at a consistent gait on the wall.\u00a0 While we are doing that, other horses are standing around, creating squeeze places for us.\u00a0 Sometimes other horses are coming from the opposite direction on their own path&#8230;but it still looks like they are headed straight for us.\u00a0 Sue doesn&#8217;t like that at all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">Coming around the corner, Sue stopped and protested passing a horse standing too close to the rail (in Sue&#8217;s opinion).\u00a0 Plus the horse was facing us&#8230;even more difficult for Sue.\u00a0 There was a nice sized opening, but we failed to squirt thru it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">Jenny said, &#8220;You need a strong focus to get Sue thru these spots.\u00a0 Look where you want her to go.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">I decided this meant that I couldn&#8217;t stare worridly at the offending horse\u00a0 .\u00a0 I believe this\u00a0also meant that\u00a0couldn&#8217;t avert my eyes to the upcoming disaster and just look down at Sue&#8217;s head.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">Focus\u00a0 It&#8217;s a five letter word.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">The next time we came around the corner, the horse was standing in the same place.\u00a0 I focused strongly on the opposite wall where I wanted Sue to\u00a0go.\u00a0 We squirted right thru the opening and around the opposite corner we went!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">Focus.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve forgotten about focus when riding Sue.\u00a0 Rather, I&#8217;ve been focused on the &#8220;stopping things&#8221; rather than where we are to go.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">Focus<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I don&#8217;t know whether or not you&#8217;ve noticed this, but ususally the title pertains to either Sue or I.\u00a0 Today, it really is my title.
