{"id":874,"date":"2008-03-07T23:36:21","date_gmt":"2008-03-08T05:36:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/?p=874"},"modified":"2010-10-07T23:37:48","modified_gmt":"2010-10-08T04:37:48","slug":"sue-how-do-you-do-the-catch-me-game-with-your-daughter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mofoxtrot.com\/viewpoint\/sue-how-do-you-do-the-catch-me-game-with-your-daughter\/","title":{"rendered":"Sue &#8211; How Do You Do The &#8220;Catch Me&#8221; Game with your Daughter!?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: small;\">You know Sue was the horse that can&#8217;t be caught\u00a0now the horse that mostly can be caught.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: small;\">Except for today&#8230;and a few days in the past.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: small;\">Sue is still in training with 12 yr old Nichole Copple.\u00a0 Sue lives in a huge pasture with other horses that are in training with Tony and Jenny Vaught.\u00a0 Occasionally Sue has new horse friends that don&#8217;t know how wonderful people are and they &#8220;don&#8217;t like to be caught&#8221;.\u00a0 But gradually, these horses learn that people\u00a0are wonderful and come to\u00a0or stand to be haltered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: small;\">Sue no longer has horse friends that like to run when people come into the pasture.\u00a0 She sez &#8220;Drat!\u00a0 It was a lot of fun when the three of them were flying around the training pasture!&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: small;\">Today, she decided that she didn&#8217;t want to be caught.\u00a0 Off she went.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: small;\">Sue&#8217;s daughter, Diva, is in training with Tony Vaught at Pine Dell.\u00a0 Tony got Diva, saddled her up and went out into the training pasture to help Sue understand her role in the &#8220;catch me&#8221; game.\u00a0 Diva really got into her role!\u00a0 She had her ears back when Sue wouldn&#8217;t readily move towards the front of the pasture and the halter person.\u00a0 Then Tony would rub her on the neck.\u00a0 Her ears sprung forward.\u00a0 She was liking it when Tony told her &#8220;good job&#8221;.\u00a0 Then back to the Sue &#8220;catch me&#8221; game again and Diva reverted to a cow horse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: small;\">Poor Sue&#8230;to be rounded up by her own daughter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: small;\">Sue\u00a0gave up her role in the catch me game and was delighted to have the halter put on.\u00a0\u00a0Nichole rode.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: small;\">Nichole, Jenny and I are excited about Sue&#8217;s progress.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: small;\">Sue is cantering longer now before breaking\u00a0gait.\u00a0 Remember, Sue is about 13 years old and\u00a0was not cantered under saddle before I got her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: small;\">Another thing Sue is doing is getting into the fox trot quicker!\u00a0 You know when Sue gets nervous, she tenses up. This causes the pace.\u00a0 Now she is flat foot walking and then fox trotting a lot earlier.\u00a0 She is relaxing at an early stage and then the gait comes.\u00a0 Nichole spends a lot more time now in the flat foot walk and the fox trot than she does in the pace.\u00a0 This is Way Cool.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: small;\">Sue&#8217;s full sister is a World Grand Champion!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You know Sue was the horse that can&#8217;t be caught\u00a0now the horse that mostly can be caught.
