Bridleless Group Lesson

First time ever for the middle horse and rider to ride bridleless. The sorrel with a blaze rode a walk trot horsemanship pattern bridleless the day before at a horse show for the first time!

This was my first time to ride without the bridle too. We have been practicing with reins wrapped around saddle horn. I couldn’t ever make myself take the bridle off. Reins are so handy. I got the horsemanship stick string around her neck and carried my stick on my neck.

Fancy did wonderful when we started but wanted to speed up, so I asked her to canter. And we did. The other riders noticed my cantering show-off, so they did too.

And at the end of the lesson, I was out-bragged by the middle horse and rider. They did a bridleless flying lead change! I ended up being the jealous one! Dang!

Tomorrow I’ll be filming my practice ride with a flying lead attempt. I have often laughed at the thought of doing the Parelli Free Style (bridleless) audition because flying lead changes are mandatory. Stay tuned!

Thank you Erin Patterson for adding bridleless to our lesson!
