Whirlwind’s Golden Tenor is my horse, ridden by Jenny Vaught in this competition. My son is an opera singer, thus the name, Tenor. Tenor’s sire was Whirlwind, the black horse used at the Celebration for many years to honor those who died that year. I bought Tenor from Teresa Osborn when he was a weanling because I didn’t have enough horses…haha.
I gave Tenor to a client of Tony and Jenny Vaught, who all live in Florida. When Tenor was a yearling, the man and his wife from Florida came to visit me. Tenor was something special back then and got to spend time in my yard, eating grass. The clients came to visit me. We went to the barn and sat on some hay bales, chatting. Tenor walked into the barn and laid down at the man’s feet! We were all stunned.
Two years later, the man’s horse died so I gave him Tenor. It was meant to be. Tenor and his human took lessons from and stabled with Tony and Jenny. Plus he was used as a lesson horse. Last year, circumstances changed and the man delivered Tenor back to me.
Jenny rode him in 2023 at the World Celebration. Tenor won Reserve World Grand Champion Versatility and World Grand Champion Ranch Horse.
Tenor’s story is miraculous!
