Sue-How Do You Do those Liquid Gold Eyes?

Sue - How Have Your Eyes Changed AGAIN We had Sue with the dull look in her eyes.  That was when I first got her.  This post is written in April 2008.  I got Sue in April of 2006. In 2007, we had the transformation Sue with the bright eyes. That was darn amazing.  Her eyes changed from dull to bright and interested. I'll have to look back in the blog to see what month that was. Her eyes changed to bright , but they were still wide open for things of…

Sue – How Do You Do after being with Nichole?

I took Sue home 4/1/08.  She's been with Nichole all this time.  Our bond has slipped since Sue and I haven't been together for quite a time.  My job is to get her trust again.  I took her to a clinic today.  It's called a Liberty Clinic.  It's all about building a relationship and language so strong that your horse will sidepass, back, turn on the forequarters and hindquarters and circle around you and walk beside you...all while "loose".  They have no halter no lead rope.. I learned that this…

Nova – My First Ride

Nova has been in training with Jenny for a while. I rode Nova for the 1st time today in Jenny's 11:00 lesson. I managed to keep my butterflies in formation upon first getting on. I might have been somewhat relaxed when we stopped riding. I haven't rode a young horse since JR was young about 6 years ago! Wow! Is she ever nice. Nova is Sage's daughter. Sage is a lesson horse at Pine Dell and lives in the pasture horse. Sage was in the arena when I took my…

Sue – How Do You Do The “Catch Me” Game with your Daughter!?

You know Sue was the horse that can't be caught now the horse that mostly can be caught. Except for today...and a few days in the past. Sue is still in training with 12 yr old Nichole Copple.  Sue lives in a huge pasture with other horses that are in training with Tony and Jenny Vaught.  Occasionally Sue has new horse friends that don't know how wonderful people are and they "don't like to be caught".  But gradually, these horses learn that people are wonderful and come to or stand to be haltered.…

Sue- How Do You Do- No-Where Horse Back at the Park!

Sue and I went on a trail ride at James A. Reed Park. It took us 14 months to get here. This park is the precipitating event of why she became my horse. When she spooked at this park and her rider (who was trying her out as a trail horse) fell off, Sue set herself up to come to me. Neither of us knew it at the time. She had no where to go after that. The no-where horse became my horse. After 14 months of slow fear recovery,…

Sue- How Do You do in the Ozarks?

Caitlyn on Velvet - Nichole on Sue I let Sue roam in the pasture with grass just too long.  She is starting to get the first sign of a cresty neck.  Then, she started limping...abscess.  This is the first sign that insulin resistance has started and laminitis is around the corner. I tried shutting her in her stall with limited turn out.  This is a horse for whom weight loss is DIFFICULT! I had a brilliant idea!  Jenny's…
