Sulley Ice Rescue

Sulley is Alive! Sulley fell into the lake today. He was far enough from the shore, that I didn’t consider going into the ice to get him. He was not far from the dock. I got GSD Emma into house. I figured she would try to go out on ice and “play” with Sulley. I had no idea what to do. I did think about hiding in the house till he died. I looked at a heavy lawn chair and got the idea to use it to stab and break…

Where Am I?

You can only read this if you promise to buy a ticket and attend the Quality Hill Playhouse Christmas concert staring Superstar singer, Lauren Bradshaw. Lauren's mother, Apryl,  is my best friend.  On the day that her parents, Apryl, Mike and I were to attend the show, we decided where our evening dining place would be.  Oh my!  I recommended Costentino's Market downtown Kansas City. Reservations were not required,  comfy seating was available and we could hear each other talk.  I hate those restaurants where you can't hear your companions…

Daylight Savings Sunday

I was scheduled to usher at the Kauffman Center with a start time of 1:45. I carefully planned my strategy to be on time with the first day without daylight savings. My watch was to remain on daylight savings time. My phone would switch automatically. Terry and I had an early breakfast at the non daylight time of 10:00 am. When the phone said it was time for me to head for downtown KC, everything was perfect. My confidence was supreme. I decided to change the car clock while I…

Epic Battle at the Car Wash (I lost)

Early this past year in Facebook I posted about my car wash grand experience with free vacuum and an amazing machine that cleans the floor dry mats. This story is not a grand experience. Lord help me.  I screamed at a worker to forgive my sins. I might have floor mat dust lung disease with no Black Lung-like federal program to help me. Dear God, I have a German Shepard who loves to swim in a stinkin’ pond. I live on a gravel road. I think cleaning my car is…

A Toy and Red Dress For Christmas

It was the 50’s. Life was good in a small Iowa town for the cute little red-haired girl. Enough Christmas years had passed and the little girl realized that she should get her mother a present. The concept of giving to others had come to the little girl. “Mommy, what do you want for Christmas?” Mommy thought about it for a couple of seconds and replied, “I’d like a toy and a red dress.” Mommy grew up during the depression when getting a toy for Christmas was very special. Having…

Riding Velvet is ah sigh so Good

I decided to ride Velvet for a while at Pine Dell Farm every evening that it was in the high 20's to 30's.  Ah, life is good with an highly trained finished horse. I just might be over my mad desire to have a young horse to finish every 5-8 years or so.  It's fun to get Velvet and I back into coordination.
