It is a very odd day not to go fast. I like fast. I love cantering. Fancy likes to go fast only when she decides. Amazingly, we just had fun weaving around obstacles and playing with body position, hindquarter yields, forequarter yields, backing and leg cues. Fast was not in our playbook today!
I got a new plastic bag from the grocery store.. Why don’t I attach it to my Horsemanship stick today? I didn’t tear any holes in it and tied it only with one handle. It was big and fluffy!
The plastic fluffy bag made an impression on Fancy. What the heck is that? Will it kill me? We spent some time on plastic bag desensitizing. Later I mounted and drug the plastic bag on the ground beside her while she moved. She cocked her head and ear to bag.
Oh, and let’s drag a large cone. Last year when I was dragging a cone, she was fine. She has gone through training for this and drug a forty pound tire with Tony last year at the World Celebration. Last year in the arena, when she turned to face the cone while I drug it to her face she was alarmed. Today, not so much.
We did get around to gaiting around the arena. We also cantered. We ended the session being happy with our slow day full of finesse.
