I loaned Fancy to Beth Pearson for her to ride in a competition in southern Missouri at the World Fox Trotter Headquarters. It went well. Fancy and Beth and Fancy competed in a sport called Sorting. Sorting is moving numbered cows in order from one large round pen to an adjoining large round pen. The contestants are two horse and rider partners. You can have three different riding partners in the competition.
Beth took Fancy home to prepare for the great Spring Show at Ava in June 2025. They will compete in Versatility and Sorting. Yea Haw! Beth lives in Mississippi with plenty of land and many, many other Missouri Fox Trotters of all ages. Beth breeds Fox Trotters to sell. I visited Beth, Lee, Fancy and a million Missouri Fox Trotters in April 2025. I discovered Fancy’s new standing as Queen of Mississippi during that visit. Yes, Beth rides her, plays with her, grooms her, feeds her and gave her a nice pasture with a couple of young horses to boss around. Fancy is very very content.
Summer in Mississippi has arrived with the 90+ heat, bugs, flies and humidity. Ugh. I’ll never visit Fancy in the Mississippi summer.
Today, I got an alarming text from Beth:
“Fancy scared the shit out of me.” “What!”, I said. Beth responded, “I was home alone, on the back porch watering my plants. I heard my freezer door shut in the garage. I WAS HOME ALONE! WHO was messing with the freezer!
I found Fancy in the garage! FANCY CAN OPEN FREEZERS! I was afraid then shocked, then shocked again!”
That freezer contains Horse Feed! Oh my! Fancy knew.
Here is the proof of Fancy’s quest for food! Wait, Look at that pumpkin! Fancy had a bite of pumpkin, but she must have decided pumpkin is not in her taste bud desire.
Later, the “He Who Will Not be Named”, “Significant Other” returned home and made a confession. “I allowed Fancy into the house ” (to check out her possible bedroom, sofa and TV reception).
Fancy in her “Queen of the Mississippi” universe is allowed to roam loose in the grassy yard when either Beth or Lee are at home. Lee had the nerve to mow the grass and made it too short for her Queenly Desire. Undoubtedly, this sent Fancy into the garage looking for the food.
Interestingly, recently Lee had discovered the freezer lid open and had chastised innocent Beth for not closing the lid. Now, we suspect it was Fancy, all along. Never again will there be an open door for Fancy to get into the garage.
Fancy is a challenging Queen of Mississippi!
