Partnership

Erin rode Fancy today and she did great. She is the old time definition of a saddle horse, advanced. My aim was to be a loving partner today. My goal is to spend undemanding time with her. I ask her for nothing. I am not requesting nor demanding any action from her. I drove into the stable driveway just as Erin was putting Fancy back in her small pasture. Erin told me Fancy whinnied when she saw my car. She knows my car and whinnied. The whinny is huge signature…

Screaming and Pounding

When I went to the arena to visit, ride and play with Fancy yesterday, we heard a strange noise from outside. I thought it might be a weird dog howling. We became scared of that end of the arena. It wasn't howling; it was her horse pasture mate! Her pasture mate went crazy today when Fancy and I were in arena. The pasture mate screamed a true horse scream-whinny, upsetting Fancy. When I moved the jump holders and a pole into the arena, I let Fancy loose, and she ran…

“This Made My Day”

Something awesome amazing happened at the group lesson today. It made Erin’s day. Lesson started. Flat foot walk for a while and next a few rounds of fox trot. I whine about the fox trot because someone has been training my horse and this fox trot is wonderful! I’m in Heaven! I don’t need a bra! Who has been training my horse! Note: Fancy has been in full time and now part time training for several years with Erin Patterson, a Super Hero. Fancy has had nearly two weeks vacation…

Who Switched Horses on Me?

Fancy and I are doing so amazing, I wondered if someone had switched horses on me. Who is this horse I'm riding? She isn't arguing. She's trying to do what I want. She is doing what I want. Who is this horse? I know few people with access to horses the same color as Fancy. There are not that many classic cream champagne horses in existence. Did I have a friend who would take my horse and give me a better one?  No. No and heck No! The horse I'm riding is the real Fancy!…

Bridleless Group Lesson

First time ever for the middle horse and rider to ride bridleless. The sorrel with a blaze rode a walk trot horsemanship pattern bridleless the day before at a horse show for the first time! This was my first time to ride without the bridle too. We have been practicing with reins wrapped around saddle horn. I couldn’t ever make myself take the bridle off. Reins are so handy. I got the horsemanship stick string around her neck and carried my stick on my neck. Fancy did wonderful when we…
