The breed rules don’t allow a name change at her age, BUT….. maybe I could submit a petition for a special horse name change. Her name should be She’s Something Else instead of She’s Something Fancy.
What did she do today, Susan?
It’s cold here, in the lower 20 degrees, there is snow on the ground. Water is always something to worry about. The lake has just melted and for perhaps, today, there is water available for the horses to drink. The horses have heated buckets in their run-in stalls. We have to worry about the water pump freezing, and the hose. If the hose doesn’t work (because I didn’t drain it after using it) or it refuses to fasten on to the pump (occasionally my freezing fingers can’t screw the damn thing on), I carry the six buckets per day to their heated stall buckets. They prefer heated water better than ice cold lake water anyway.
This year I bought a metal hose. It bends. It’s really cool. The rubber hoses eventually get a leak and have to be replaced. I had good thoughts about the metal hose lasting.
Have I ever mentioned Fancy is a left brain extrovert with a smart brain containing love of play and curiosity? She is a “mouthy horse”. She loves to check everything out with her mouth. Hey, she doesn’t have hands, what is she to do?
A human left the hose sprayer in a heated water bucket so it wouldn’t freeze. The human should have known better. All Fancy has to occupy her mind during the horrid cold days is to stand around in the run-in stalls and eat hay. Thankfully, she did not eat the sprayer.
Nope, she pulled the entire 25 foot hose into the stall and tried to eat it. There are places where the metal has been crushed. When I saw the hose living in the stall this morning, my brain froze in horror.
My fingers froze this morning before I could screw the hose onto the water pump. I have no idea if I have a workable hose or not. My destiny is to carry the large bucket to dump the water in the three heated buckets, twice a day. What great exercise for many of my body muscles!
OMG Susan I so appreciate you. I just started reading your second book and because I am Parelli Person too I only read the first two pages and had tears running down my cheeks. God bless you lady you are such a stitch! Hugs.
