Written by Sharon Sheppard, Mimi (grandmother) Levi gets to ride Sonny occasionally. He has never been coached on the fox trotter gaits. He doesn’t get to come and ride Sonny often….and yet:
“Levi went with me to feed tonight and of course he wanted to ride the “red horse”. So after Sonny finished his feed we put his halter on and went out into your back yard along the fence. Tenor came cantering to where we were and started to foxtrot back. Levi being the prodigy he is announced to me,”that’s a foxtrot right there.” We made a few more trips along the fence and grandma’s legs were getting tired so I pulled Sonny up to the blue step ladder so Levi could dismount and he told me “Sonny still has a lot of juice left in him.” I still made him dismount and we put Sonny in his stall where he received his treat.”
