The Regu-mate is supposed to make those ovaries go dormant! That was my understanding. We learned from the animal communicator that the problem ovary was the left one. But I thought that problem past tense.
Nope.
Fancy’s shoeing session is generally every 4-5 weeks. This time due to covid crisis, Tony didn’t make it until eight weeks. Fancy’s toes were long and her withers and rear ends were out of balance. Her body was balanced using pads under her shoes, plus other factors per the Jim Crew Posture Balance method.
I rode her the next day in a nearly hour long lesson. We tried to canter on the left lead, but she had a tough time with that. I cantered on the right lead and had a great ride. The next day I rode her and did only the gaits, no canter. On the third day, Erin took her to ride and we discovered she was short strided going to the left when she warmed her up on the ground. Erin could feel it when she rode too, at the fox trot. At the end of Erin’s ride, we decided that Fancy should have a chance to recover and she had a acupuncture and chiropractic session scheduled with Dr. Randy in two days.
Erin also said that a horse has to hold up their back leg during the shoeing. This puts stress on the leg that has to bear that weight. That is 500-600 lbs of weight! That plus her waiting eight weeks with long toes should also be considered.
Fancy was “out” on both rear end sides. Her left ovary acupuncture point alerted. She got an overy injection for that, plus her hip bones were adjusted back in place.
Now Fancy has Friday, Saturday and Sunday vacation at home to recover.
I whined that she was on Regumate to prevent ovary from working. “It happens”, Dr. Randy said. I whined about spaying her suggesting it could be done when she isn’t active. We can handle any behavior issues. Nope he said. I had two clients with mares permanently in heat after spaying.
I had some serious whining and discussion with myself. She still has ovaries. I thought the follicles during heat cycle was the cause of the trouble. Now I remember taking pills stop my menopause crazy cycles. Damn ovaries. They are just troublesome until you get really old and they do sort of die.
Fancy has been doing well in her recovery. I made a mistake of having her jump over 6-8 in high poles. The next day, she started limping, so we terminated that ride. The day after the limp, she was fine, and we had a short session and didn’t canter. I rode her four days and decided to give her a three day vacation at home. Sadly, on Monday, she was worse. Erin rode her and determined the glorious right lead canter was difficult. the left lead horrible. Erin said it felt like she didn’t want to put weight on her left back foot, maybe a stifle problem. We’ve never had a stifle problem.
TJe very next day, I scored a Pulsated Electronic Magnetic Field (PEMF) session at a Stable where Dr. Randy would be working on horses too! So Fancy had her massage therapy and another adjustment by Dr. Randy. She was out of adjustment in her sacro iliac, the center of her hind end. Her left stifle needed adjusting as did her right lower neck. That diagonal had caused the problem with the right lead, Dr. Randy stated. Perhaps she took a mistep when home on vacation and pulled that stifle. This is very difficult for the human to figure out. Why is my horse suffering so much?
