Vaught’s Coming to World Celebration!

They couldn’t come in 2019 and I don’t know how I lived through that. I didn’t take Fancy in 2019 because of the heat in 2019 and the huge amount of classes each day would be too much.

They told me they would be coming for the 2020 show! Yay, someone to help me with Fancy and all the hard work that goes into this undertaking.

Horrid heat hit us bad in the Kansas City area during the months Fancy and I prepared for the show. This seems to happen every darn year too! Fancy and I practiced just enough to keep her in shape. I hid in the house during the torture days.

It was near the end of horrid heat August when I thought about Jenny’s statement that she ended up without a horse to ride. Hmmm. I thought about watching the Vaught’s ride Nova and Powder and how much I enjoy watching them. I thought about how comfortable it is to sit on the sidelines, cheer and chat with the other people watching. Close friendships are formed by the riders and by the crowd.

It is going to be difficult for me to watch so closely when I’m with the riders. Riders have to practice in the warmup arena, concentrate on the patterns, seek out the shade and find a place where you can watch when sitting on your horse.

Near the end of August, I texted Jenny and asked if she wanted to ride Fancy in the show. She immediately texted back, “Yes!” All righty! All righty! Thankfully the Vaught’s had planned a three half day cow clinic the last weekend of August. Jenny got to ride Fancy in that clinic and have a chance to get in sync with her! Cow experience with Jenny as a rider! Just think about the amount of training Fancy received!

Four days later on a Thursday, Fancy and her two half sisters left for Ava. Tony had come over earlier during the week and loaded up my trailer with hay for four horses and stall bedding. I drove down on Saturday. You can read about my trip in the blog, Lipstick in My Underwear!

I checked into the only motel in town and got a great night’s sleep. This was the first time I ever snagged a room at the motel, and I snagged one for the Vaught’s too.

Sunday 9:00 am is early, but I managed a sandwiche breakfast from Casey’s and my large vanilla Iced Coffee from McDonalds. Later I switched to egg and saugage biscuit and my coffe from McDonalds. It’s surprising how fast I can make it to the show grounds of all my clothes are laid out the night before!

I then started the immense pleasure of watching Nova, Powder and Fancy do all the classes. Caitlyn took Fancy in Showmanship and Jenny rode her for all,the remaining classes in Versatility. This was Sunday through Tuesday. Fancy and Jenny were great. Nova and Powder ended up with the points to win the overall Versatility World Grand Championship in Open and Amateur. The garlands were presented in the evening at the start of the performance classes. I had my picture taken for every World Champion win, Reserve and Tuesday evening Garland time. Yay!
